We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Support Worker to join our small family run care team in Selby. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in providing high-quality care and support to young adults with Autism and/or learning disabilities in a town centre location. This position requires a proactive approach, excellent interpersonal skills, and a commitment to enhancing the quality of life of the people we work alongside. We are looking for passionate individuals to support young adults with Autism to become more independent. You will assist with various daily living tasks such as cooking, cleaning and managing home as well as monitoring of physical and emotional well-being. This is a full time position. Your working pattern in this role will require flexibility to meet the needs of the people supported and will include evening and weekend working. Rate of pay: From £12 p/h depending on experience. Responsibilities •Support clients with daily living activities and promote independence with a person centred approach. •Assist with medication administration as per prescribed guidelines. •Engage clients in meaningful activities that promote social interaction and mental stimulation. •Maintain accurate records of client care and report any changes in behaviour or condition to the appropriate personnel. •Ensure a safe environment by adhering to health and safety regulations. •Accompany clients to appointments or community activities as needed. Desirable Skills •Experience in a residential care setting. •Proficiency in first aid techniques to respond effectively in emergencies. •Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to build rapport with clients and their families. •Ability to work collaboratively within a team while also being self-motivated. •Empathy, patience, and a genuine desire to help others are essential traits for this role. •Capability to manage challenging behaviours with professionalism and respect for client dignity. Experience desired but not required as training will be given. We offer flexible working hours. Weekend work will be necessary. There is also some sleep-in night shift working hours available with this role.
